Every year in April we recognize the Week of the Young Child, a national event celebrating early learning, young children and those who are involved in their care.  April is also National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

In order to observe and to celebrate both of these events Child Care Resource Network will be hosting a free screening of the film, “Resilience: The Biology of Stress & the Science of Hope” at North Park Theater on Tuesday, April 17th. Resilience is a documentary that focuses on toxic stress and the link between childhood trauma and an increased risk for disease, homelessness, and prison time later in life. Immediately following the screening we are holding a panel discussion with area experts centered around trauma and how it affects children throughout their lives. Several local professionals will be speaking on the panel and we will be hosting Timothy Hathaway the Executive Director of Prevent Child Abuse New York, who will be moderating the discussion.  This event is being sponsored by the Health Foundation of Western and Central new York as well as the Western New York Chapter of New York Association for the Education of Young Children (NYAEYC).

Attached please find a flyer with more details on the event that you can share. More information on the event can also be found on Child Care Resource Network’s website or their Facebook page.
